Control Systems
As technology grows more sophisticated so does the need to simplify how complex systems are controlled. Control system manufactures are developing more specialize equipment tailored for specific applications. Where it used to take many components to meet the customers requirements, new components can handle all the requirements with a single device in some cases. An example is Crestron's Digital Media solutions. In the past we used a video switchers, audio processor, amplifiers and a control system for a typical boardroom scenario. Now with Digital Media, we accomplish that with a single box.
With the advent of High Definition the content providers pushed for a solution that protected their content from being copied. This led to the development of HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface). Almost all video devices are now manufactured with HDMI and in most cases it is the only video output on the device. HDMI allows for the use of HDCP (High Definition Content Protection) and requires that all devices in the chain be HDCP compliant.
What does this mean for the typical user? It means that at some point most content will use HDCP and if you have a system being installed or that has been installed and they have not addressed the HDMI format, there's a good chance you will not be able to watch the content you were expecting. With 4K resolution on the horizon, you'll want to make sure that you're ready for the future. CES can provide you with all the technical guidance your project requires. We have on staff Crestron 4K Digital Media Certified Engineer & Designer and Certified Shading Solutions Designer.
